The No. 83 coloured smoke grenades meets all hand thrown smoke signalling requirements.
APPLICATION
Ground to air and ground to ground signalling, marking of landing and dropping zones, wind speed and direction indicators, and Land Based Search and Rescue Markers.
Designed to withstand world-wide environmental conditions, they are robust, waterproof and extremely reliable. By employing vivid colours and dense smoke emission for a minimum of 30 seconds, this grenade series provides the optimum signalling performance required by operational troops.
DESCRIPTION
The No 83 coloured smoke grenade consists of an extruded aluminium casing surmounted by a standard flip-off lever ignition system. A single emission port is located centrally at the opposite end. To operate, the twist and pull pin is removed whilst the fly-off lever is held against the grenade body. The striker fires the percussion cap when the fly-off lever is released. The lever can be fitted with an optional anti FOD (Foreign Object Damage) device to reduce hazard to aircraft.
A one second delay can be fitted on request.
